A suburban Houston man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually assaulting a woman at a home in Hyatt Place.
James Edward Jackson, 41, of Houston, is expected to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge John C. McKeon in Houston.
The U.N. special rapporteur on sexual violence in conflict has called for the case to be reopened to investigate Jackson’s alleged actions.
He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The victim was 14 years old when Jackson sexually assaulted her in December 2012 at her home in Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Prosecutors say the victim and Jackson’s ex-wife were drinking alcohol together and that they went to a home on Lake Washington where Jackson raped her.
Jackson pleaded guilty to first-degree rape in March.
He is expected in court for sentencing Thursday.
The woman who filed the complaint against Jackson was not a family member of the victim.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.s Attorney Matthew L. Smith.
Prosecutors allege Jackson sexually abused the victim when she was a minor, but he was not arrested until May 2018.
Jackson was arrested after he was caught on video raping the victim at a Houston restaurant.
Prosecutors have not disclosed the victim’s name, but her attorney says she had been a regular customer at the Hyatt House hotel in the Houston suburb.
