A man found dead Tuesday in his home after being shot by a homeowner has been identified as Joel Osten House, a neighbor.
The Associated Press identified the victim as 28-year-old Joel Osteen House, of Woodbury, New Jersey.
House had just moved to the neighborhood with his family after being fired from his job at a manufacturing company, according to a release from the Woodbury Police Department.
A resident who was home at the time heard a loud noise and opened the front door to see a man on the ground outside his home, police said.
The man, later identified as Osten, had been shot several times, according the release.
Police said the homeowner shot House because he did not return home from work, police spokeswoman Melissa Otero said.
Osten was taken to University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died.
